Day 1 — Day 1: Kakheti Wine Region

   Today, we leave the capital behind and head east toward Kakheti, Georgia's world-famous wine region. This day is dedicated to stunning landscapes, ancient traditions, and legendary hospitality. Prepare your senses for endless vineyards, breathtaking mountain views, and the rich flavors of Kakhetian wine as we journey into the heart of Georgia's winemaking culture.

2. KTW Winery (Kakhetian Traditional Wines)

   Our first stop is at one of the region’s prominent wineries—KTW. Here, you will step into the fascinating world of Georgian winemaking, which dates back 8,000 years. We will explore the cellars, learn about the unique traditional Qvevri method (underground clay vessels), and, of course, enjoy a guided tasting of exceptional local wines. It’s the perfect, flavorful introduction to the spirit of Kakheti.

3. Sighnaghi – The City of Love

   Next, we drive up to the fairytale town of Sighnaghi, perched beautifully on a hilltop overlooking the vast Alazani Valley. Known as the "City of Love" for its 24/7 wedding chapel and romantic vibe, Sighnaghi will charm you with its red-tiled roofs, colorful wooden balconies, and cobblestone streets. We will walk along the ancient 18th-century defensive walls and take in the endless, postcard-perfect views of the Caucasus Mountains in the distance.

4. Optional · Lunch in Sighnaghi

   Take a relaxing break at a local terrace restaurant overlooking the Alazani Valley. This is a wonderful opportunity to try authentic Kakhetian cuisine—such as traditional Mtsvadi (shashlik) pork skewers grilled over vine wood—paired perfectly with a glass of crisp local wine and a panoramic mountain backdrop.

5. Bodbe Monastery

   Just a short drive from Sighnaghi lies the serene Bodbe Monastery, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Georgia. Nestled among tall cypress trees, this peaceful convent holds the shrine of St. Nino, the evangelist who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. We will wander through its beautifully manicured gardens, soak in the spiritual tranquility, and enjoy the breathtaking views over the valley below.

6. End · Evening Return to Tbilisi

   With a heart full of memories (and perhaps a few bottles of wine), we will make our way back to Tbilisi. Enjoy a comfortable evening relaxing at your hotel, because tomorrow our journey takes a dramatic turn upwards into the high peaks of the Great Caucasus Mountains!

Day 2 — Day 2: The Military Highway to Kazbegi

1. Start · Morning Ascending the Georgian Military Highway

   Get ready for a day of dramatic landscapes and high-altitude wonders! Today, we travel north along the historic Georgian Military Highway, a route celebrated for centuries by travelers and poets alike. As we climb higher into the Great Caucasus, the scenery transforms into massive green valleys, roaring alpine rivers, and snow-capped peaks that will leave you breathless.

2. Zhinvali Reservoir

   Our first scenic stop is the stunning Zhinvali Reservoir. The brilliant turquoise waters of this massive artificial lake contrast beautifully with the lush, deep-green hills that surround it. It is an absolutely magical spot for photos, offering a calm and peaceful start to our mountain adventure.

3. Ananuri Castle Complex

   Directly on the shores of the reservoir stands Ananuri, a magnificent 17th-century fortress that once belonged to the powerful Dukes of Aragvi. We will explore the stone defensive walls, climb the ancient watchtowers for incredible views of the lake, and admire the intricate stone carvings on the facade of its historic churches. It’s a place where history and nature blend perfectly.

4. The Confluence of Black and White Aragvi

   Nature shows off its artistry at our next quick stop. In the small village of Pasanauri, you will witness a fascinating natural phenomenon: the merging of the Black and White Aragvi rivers. The two distinct currents flow side by side in the same riverbed without mixing immediately, creating a striking visual contrast that is truly mesmerizing to watch.

5. Gudauri Friendship Monument

   As we climb higher through the mountain passes, we reach the Gudauri Friendship Monument (also known as the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument). Perched dramatically on the edge of a sheer cliff at an elevation of over 2,000 meters, this colorful, panoramic concrete structure offers a literal bird's-eye view of the deep "Devil's Valley" and the majestic mountain ranges below.

6. Optional · Lunch in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)

   Before our final ascent, we will stop for a hearty mountain lunch in the alpine town of Stepantsminda. This is the perfect time to try authentic mountain Khinkali, which are uniquely seasoned with local wild herbs, giving them a distinct flavor quite different from the ones you tasted in the capital.

7. Gergeti Trinity Church

   The ultimate highlight of the day! We will head up to the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, spectacularly situated at 2,170 meters above sea level right beneath the towering, snow-covered peak of Mount Kazbek (5,054m). The view of this isolated, 14th-century stone church standing proudly against the massive mountain panorama is the quintessential image of Georgia.

8. End · Evening Back to the Capital

   After taking in the crisp mountain air and unforgettable alpine views, we will begin our descent and head back to Tbilisi. Unwind on the comfortable drive home and rest up after an epic day of mountain exploration.
