How tours work
What this guide covers
This page explains how tours work on Travel Guide Georgia: how to search and compare them, how group and private pricing differ, how date-based deals appear, what happens when you request a booking, and how payments, saved tours, and reviews fit together.
Finding tours
- Open Tours in the main navigation to browse all published tours.
- Use the search field to filter by title or description keywords.
- Use filters for category, tour type (group / private), duration band, difficulty, and whether transport is included.
- Travel date: pick a date to see which tours have an open slot that day and to preview calendar pricing on cards (where the guide has set a special price for that date). Tours without availability on the selected date are hidden while the date filter is active. Clear the date to return to the default “from” pricing.
Saving tours you like
- Use the heart on a tour page to save it locally on your device.
- Open Saved in the site header (next to the language selector) to see your list. Saved items are stored in your browser; if you are logged in, favourites can also sync with your account where the site supports it.
Group tours
- Price basis: usually a per-person list price set by the guide (base price). The tour page shows minimum and maximum group size.
- Calendar deals: the guide can set a custom price per person (or a percentage off the base price) for specific dates in their availability calendar. That price is applied first for that date; then automatic discount rules (if the guide configured any) use that amount as the starting point—e.g. early booking, seasonal window, or group-size bands. Only the single best matching rule is applied, not several stacked percentages on top of each other unless the site explicitly shows separate lines (calendar vs rule).
- Booking: you choose a date with availability, enter the number of people, optionally add extras, then submit a booking request.
Private tours
- Price basis: a fixed total price per vehicle / group size band (“tier”), not per person. Examples: 1–3 guests at one total, 4–7 at another, etc. The tour page lists tiers with passenger ranges and total prices.
- No automatic discount rules of the group-tour type (early bird / seasonal rules) on private tours. Promotions are driven by tier list prices and by calendar entries: the guide can set a promotional total (or a percentage off their lowest tier list price) for specific dates.
- When you book: you pick a date, then a tier that matches your party size, then enter the exact headcount within that tier’s range. The price shown reflects your tier and any calendar override for that date.
- Confirmation: the site may describe private requests as subject to guide confirmation—the guide checks the request before it is final.
Understanding the price breakdown
On the tour page booking panel you may see:
- Base line — group: per-person × people, or private: tier total for your selection.
- Calendar vs list — if the slot has a better price than the default list for that date, a line may show the discount percentage compared to the reference list (for private, versus the listed tier you selected; marketing “from” prices elsewhere may use the cheapest tier as reference).
- Rule discount (group only) — if a pricing rule applies, a row shows the rule discount on the amount after calendar pricing.
- Extras — optional add-ons (per person or per booking).
- Payment method discount — if the guide enabled it, paying with a specific method (e.g. certain PayPal options or cash) can apply an extra percentage on the subtotal after the above. This is separate from calendar and rule discounts.
Always check the total line before submitting.
Booking flow (step by step)
- Choose an available date (and for private tours, tier and party size).
- Fill in contact details (name, email, phone if required).
- Choose a payment option if the guide offers more than one (full PayPal, deposit + balance, cash on the day, etc.).
- Submit Request booking (wording may vary). This sends a request to the guide; you should receive email confirmation of the request where the site is configured to send it.
- The guide accepts or adjusts the booking according to their workflow. Use Messages or contact details on the booking if the site links you to a thread.
Payments
- PayPal may be offered for full payment or a deposit; the rest may be due on the tour day according to the option text.
- Cash may be offered as an option with its own instructions from the guide.
- Currency is set per tour; prices are shown in that currency.
Cancellations and changes
- Each tour may include a cancellation policy text written by the guide. Read it on the tour page before booking.
- For changes or refunds, follow the policy or contact the guide (or site support if applicable).
Reviews
- After taking part in a tour, you may be able to leave a rating and comment where reviews are enabled. You typically need to be logged in. Guides may reply to reviews.
For guides and contributors
- If you list tours here, you manage availability, calendar pricing, tiers (private), base price and rules (group), extras, and payment options from the Contribute area after your guide account is set up. See your package editor and calendar screens for details.
Privacy and terms
- For how we handle account data and site rules, see the Privacy policy link in the footer.
If something in the product changes, we will update this page; the tour page and checkout wording always reflect the live behaviour for that tour.
