Historical Journey Through Georgia

1. Start · Morning Departure from Hotel

   Today we travel through the ancient history of Georgia, discovering royal cities, important religious monuments, Soviet history, and one of the oldest cave towns in the Caucasus. This tour combines breathtaking landscapes, cultural heritage, and fascinating stories from different periods of Georgian history, making it one of the most diverse and unforgettable experiences near Tbilisi.

2. Chronicle of Georgia

   Our first stop is the impressive Chronicle of Georgia monument overlooking the Tbilisi Sea. This massive stone structure tells the story of Georgian kings, heroes, and Christianity through giant carved pillars. The peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views over Tbilisi make this place a perfect beginning for our historical journey.

3. Jvari Monastery

   Next, we visit the famous Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site built in the 6th century. Located on top of a hill, the monastery offers breathtaking views where the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers meet below. Jvari is one of the most important religious and architectural monuments in Georgia and a true symbol of the country’s Christian history.

4. Stalin Museum – Gori

   We continue to the city of Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Here we visit the Stalin Museum, where you will learn about the life, political career, and Soviet era connected to one of the most controversial historical figures of the 20th century. The museum includes personal belongings, photographs, and Stalin’s famous armored train carriage.

5. Uplistsikhe Cave Town

   Next, we explore the ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe, one of the oldest rock-hewn settlements in Georgia dating back thousands of years. Walking through tunnels, caves, ancient streets, temples, and halls carved directly into the rock feels like stepping into another world. From the top of the hill, you will enjoy beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding valley and the Mtkvari River.

6. Optional · Lunch in Mtskheta

   During the tour, we can stop for lunch in the charming town of Mtskheta, where you can taste traditional Georgian cuisine and relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the old capital.

7. Mtskheta & Svetitskhoveli Cathedral

   Before returning to Tbilisi, we visit Mtskheta, the ancient capital and spiritual center of Georgia. Here we explore the magnificent Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, one of the most sacred religious sites in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage monument. The cathedral is deeply connected to Georgian Christian history and remains an important pilgrimage destination today.

8. Optional · Free Time in Mtskheta

   You will also have some free time to walk through the small streets of Mtskheta, visit local souvenir shops, and enjoy the warm atmosphere of this historic town.

9. End · Evening Return to Tbilisi

   After a full day exploring ancient monasteries, cave cities, Soviet history, and the spiritual heart of Georgia, we comfortably return to Tbilisi. This journey offers a unique opportunity to experience many different chapters of Georgian history in just one unforgettable day.
