3-Day Georgia Highlights: Ancient History, Wine & Mountains

Our first stop is the magnificent Chronicle of Georgia, often called the “Georgian Stonehenge.” Towering giant pillars rise above the hills overlooking the Tbilisi Sea, telling stories of Georgian kings, queens, saints, and biblical events through dramatic stone carvings. Our adventure continues to the extraordinary Uplistsikhe cave city, one of the oldest urban settlements in the Caucasus. Carved directly into massive rock formations more than 3,000 years ago, this ancient town once stood along the Silk Road trading route. As we walk through its tunnels, ancient halls, pagan temples, wine cellars, and hidden passageways, it feels as though we have stepped into another world. Our first destination is the renowned KTW winery. We continue to the charming town of Sighnaghi, often called the “City of Love.” With its cobblestone streets, colorful balconies, defensive walls, and stunning mountain views, Sighnaghi feels like a hidden gem straight from a postcard. High in the mountains, we stop at the spectacular Gudauri Panorama, also known as the Friendship Monument. Built dramatically on the edge of a cliff, this colorful viewpoint offers jaw-dropping panoramas of deep gorges, rivers, and endless mountain ranges.

The highlight of the day is the legendary Gergeti Trinity Church, standing proudly beneath the towering Mount Kazbek at 2,170 meters above sea level.
