In the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, within the Abasha Municipality, lies the village of Abashispiri, situated in the central part of the Colchis lowland. Located at just 20 meters above sea level, this settlement is 1.5 kilometers away from the town of Abasha. In the past, the village was called "Sachochio," while its current name directly points to its geographical location—on the banks of the Abasha River.

Geography and Nature

The landscape of Abashispiri is a typical Odishi lowland panorama. The village is situated in a strategically and ecologically interesting location—it is bounded by the left bank of the Abasha River and the right banks of the Rioni and Noghela rivers. The proximity of these abundant rivers ensures the fertility of the local lands and creates a unique microclimate. For nature lovers, the riverside groves and Colchian vegetation provide a pleasant environment for relaxation and fishing.

Historical Details

Historically, Abashispiri was closely connected to the surrounding villages. According to data from 1915, it was part of the Kvatana rural community. The history of the village reflects the social and economic transformations that this part of Samegrelo has undergone over the last centuries.
