Tekhuri River
The Tekhuri River is a prominent and beautiful river in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia. Originating in the Egrisi Range, it flows southwards through deeply carved, picturesque canyons and lush, subtropical forests before eventually joining the Rioni River. The Tekhuri is renowned for its crystal-clear, emerald-green waters, making it a popular spot for swimming and cooling off during the hot summer months. The river flows past the significant archaeological site of Nokalakevi (Archaeopolis), an ancient fortress city. The combination of stunning natural scenery, including hot sulfur springs along its banks, and rich historical context makes the Tekhuri River valley a must-visit destination in Samegrelo.
