Tana River

The Tana River is a significant waterway located in the Shida Kartli region of central Georgia. It flows through the beautiful Tana Gorge, a valley rich in both natural beauty and historical significance. The river originates in the Trialeti Range and flows northwards to join the Mtkvari (Kura) River near the city of Gori. The Tana Gorge is famous for its lush landscapes, fruit orchards, and numerous historical sites, most notably the ancient Ateni Sioni Church, which stands majestically overlooking the river. The valley offers excellent opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and exploring Georgia's rich cultural heritage in a serene natural setting.
