Medieval Architecture and Defensive Masonry

Built primarily during the Golden Age of the Georgian Kingdom, the church is a classic example of the small, single-nave hall design native to the Caucasus highlands. The builders utilized local materials, constructing the thick walls from roughly cut slate blocks and dark stone bound together with a durable lime mortar. This low-profile masonry allowed the building to absorb seismic shocks and weight from intense winter snowfalls without structural failure. Internal Iconography and Cultural Significance
