Supsa River
The Supsa River is one of the principal rivers of the Guria region in western Georgia. It originates in the Meskheti Range and flows westwards, eventually emptying into the Black Sea near the village of Supsa. The river basin is characterized by a humid subtropical climate and lush vegetation, typical of the Colchis Lowland. The Supsa River is ecologically significant, supporting various fish species and providing a habitat for diverse birdlife, particularly in its lower reaches and estuary. The area near its mouth is also known industrially for the Supsa oil terminal, the terminus of the Baku-Supsa pipeline. Despite this, the river and its surrounding wetlands remain an important natural area, offering opportunities for fishing, bird watching, and exploring the coastal environment of Guria.
