Ksani River

Duration: Half day Free

The Ksani River is a prominent waterway in eastern Georgia. It originates on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountain range, specifically from Lake Kelitsadi, and flows southwards to join the Mtkvari (Kura) River. The Ksani River valley is deeply woven into Georgian history, having been an important corridor and the site of numerous historical events. Along its banks and in the surrounding hills, one can find ancient fortresses, such as the Ksani Fortress, and old churches that stand as testaments to the region's past. The river itself provides essential irrigation for the fertile lands in its lower reaches and offers scenic landscapes ranging from alpine meadows at its source to broad valleys near its confluence.
