Ghalidzga River
The Ghalidzga River is a significant waterway in the Abkhazia region of northwestern Georgia. Originating in the southern slopes of the Kodori Range, it flows generally southwestwards before emptying into the Black Sea just south of the town of Ochamchire. The river valley is characterized by lush subtropical vegetation and has historically been an important agricultural area, particularly for tea and citrus cultivation. The Ghalidzga also holds historical significance, with numerous ancient settlements and fortresses located along its banks, reflecting the region's rich past.
