Batumi State Music Center

Batumi State Music Center stands as a prominent architectural and cultural landmark along the Black Sea coast. Designed with a striking contemporary aesthetic, this structure serves as the premier venue for classical performances, opera, and ballet in the Adjara region. Architectural Metamorphosis

The current structure is the result of a profound transformation. Originally an older, rigid Soviet-era cinema and cultural house, the building was completely reimagined by Georgian architect Vakhtang Khmaladze in 2011. The redesign stripped away the heavy concrete aesthetic, replacing it with sweeping lines and expansive glass panels that invite natural light into the foyer.

Acoustic Engineering and Performance Space

The primary concert hall was engineered to meet the demanding requirements of live orchestral music.

• Symphonic Design: The main auditorium seats over a thousand spectators, utilizing advanced acoustic paneling to project sound evenly across the space without artificial amplification.
• Spanish Chandelier: The ceiling of the main hall is illuminated by a massive, custom-designed chandelier imported from Spain, adding a layer of visual grandeur to the auditory experience.
• Rehearsal Studios: Beyond the main stage, the center contains specialized rehearsal rooms for the local ballet troupe and symphony orchestra.

The venue regularly hosts the Batumi Symphony Orchestra, the Batumi State Cappella, and various theatrical troupes, cementing its role as the undisputed core of performing arts in western Georgia.
