Geography and Location

Gvalderi is a small, picturesque settlement in the Mestia Municipality, situated in the high-mountain region of Upper Svaneti at an elevation of 1,120 meters above sea level. The village is located on the left bank of the Enguri River and is part of the Etseri administrative community.

• Location: Situated approximately 16 kilometers west of Mestia, the regional center.

Historical and Cultural Context

Gvalderi belongs to the historic Etseri community, which has played a significant role in Svaneti's history. Etseri was once a major cultural and political hub in the region.
