The village and its surroundings have a deep historical background. Guristke was once home to the St. George Church, which served as a focal point for the local community. The broader Didivani area is archaeologically significant due to the discovery of the "Didi Vani Treasure," a collection of bronze artifacts dating back to the 13th century BC. This find highlights the ancient roots of metallurgy and settlement in this part of Guria.

Notable Figures

Guristke is the birthplace of Noe Ramishvili, the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918–1921). He also attended the local school, which later hosted other prominent figures like the educator Ilia Sikharulidze. The village's contribution to Georgia's political and intellectual history is a source of great local pride.
