Geography and Location

Guristke is a charming village located in the Guria region of Western Georgia, within the Chokhatauri Municipality. It sits on the left bank of the Supsa River, at an altitude of approximately 200 meters above sea level. As part of the Didivani community, the village is characterized by its lush Gurean landscapes, where the river valley meets the rolling foothills of the region.

History and Cultural Heritage

The village and its surroundings have a deep historical background. Guristke was once home to the St. George Church, which served as a focal point for the local community. The broader Didivani area is archaeologically significant due to the discovery of the "Didi Vani Treasure," a collection of bronze artifacts dating back to the 13th century BC. This find highlights the ancient roots of metallurgy and settlement in this part of Guria.

Notable Figures

Guristke is the birthplace of Noe Ramishvili, the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918–1921). He also attended the local school, which later hosted other prominent figures like the educator Ilia Sikharulidze. The village's contribution to Georgia's political and intellectual history is a source of great local pride.
