Location and Geography

Grdzelvelebi is a high-altitude village situated in the Tianeti Municipality of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, in eastern Georgia. Perched at an elevation of 1090 meters above sea level, the village lies on the right bank of the Vashliani River. The river itself is a left tributary of the Iori, contributing to the scenic and rugged landscape of the area. It is located approximately 26 kilometers southeast of the municipal center, Tianeti.

• Grdzelvelebi Abandoned Village: On the outskirts of the modern settlement lie the ruins of an older village dating back to the late Middle Ages. Archaeological surveys have uncovered foundations of rectangular stone buildings, suggesting a once-thriving local community.
• Adgilis Dedis Khati Church: To the southwest of the village stands a small hall church known as "Adgilis Dedis Khati" (Icon of the Mother of the Place). This late medieval structure, though partially damaged, remains a poignant symbol of the region's spiritual and cultural history.
