Goristsikhe

Goristsikhe is a high-mountain village in the Kazbegi Municipality, situated on the left bank of the Terek (Tergi) River at an elevation of 1,870 meters. Located just 7 kilometers from Stepantsminda, it serves as a quiet witness to the rich history and rugged beauty of the Khevi region.

Location and Geography

Perched on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus, Goristsikhe offers breathtaking views of the Terek valley. The village experiences a classic alpine climate, with cool, refreshing summers and deep, snowy winters. The village is steeped in history, mentioned by the 18th-century Georgian scholar Vakhushti Bagrationi as "Gori village." Several notable ruins stand as reminders of its past:
