Geography and Location

The village of Gomi is situated in the Shida Kartli region, within the Kaspi Municipality. It lies on the Shida Kartli plain at an elevation of 548 meters above sea level. Located just 2 kilometers from the town of Kaspi, Gomi is nestled in the picturesque Tedzami River valley, a region historically significant for its fertile lands and strategic routes.

History

Gomi first appears in historical records in the 14th century. In 1398, King Alexander I the Great reaffirmed its status as a donation to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, the village was governed by the influential Maghaladze family. Historical documents from the 17th century note that Gomi provided 31 royal soldiers for the kingdom's defense, highlighting its importance in the feudal era.
