Geta is a charming village situated in the Kvemo Kartli region, offering a unique landscape within the Bolnisi Municipality:

• Waterways: The village is nestled on the left bank of the Getistsqali River, a left tributary of the Mashavera River.

• Proximity: Located approximately 17 kilometers away from the municipal center, the city of Bolnisi.

Historical Context

The village has a layered history that is reflected in its various historical names and settlement patterns:

• Former Names: Historically, the village was known as Kvemo Gulaveri or Musopriani.
• Settlement Evolution: Records suggest that Geta and the neighboring village of Tsipori once formed a single, larger settlement.
• Modern Era: The current name, Geta, was officially adopted in the early 1990s as part of a regional toponymic update.

Cultural Heritage

The most significant historical landmark in Geta is its medieval church, which serves as a window into the region's past:

• The Church: Known as the Musopriani-Geta chambered church, it dates back to the late Middle Ages (15th-16th centuries).
• Construction: The structure was built using a combination of dressed stone and brickwork, typical of the period's architecture.
• Archaeological Finds: During restoration efforts in 2017, archaeologists discovered ancient burial sites both inside and around the church, along with pottery fragments and traditional roof tiles from the 15th and 16th centuries.
