The village of Etseri is situated in western Georgia, within the Tsalenjikha Municipality of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. It is beautifully spread along the left bank of the Didi Chkhoushi River, at an elevation of approximately 356 meters above sea level. Located just 4 kilometers northwest of the town of Tsalenjikha in a straight line, Etseri enjoys close proximity to the municipal center while maintaining its tranquil rural charm.

Etymology and History

The name "Etseri" (or "Entseri" in the local Megrelian language) traditionally refers to a specific type of podzolic soil or land that was cleared from the forest for agricultural use. The village shares the typical historical background of Colchian settlements, where generations of locals have engaged in farming and animal husbandry.

Population and Infrastructure

According to the 2014 national census, Etseri has a population of 386 residents, with an overwhelming majority (99.7%) being ethnic Georgians. The village is equipped with basic educational infrastructure, including a public school and a kindergarten, serving the needs of the local youth.

Etseri stands out with its lush vegetation and humid subtropical climate, characteristic of the Samegrelo region.
