Eredvi Municipality represents an even more complex administrative construct. Established formally in 2006 out of the remnants of the Gori district during sweeping municipal reforms, it functioned briefly as an independent entity until it was entirely overrun during the August 2008 war. Today, Eredvi is a municipality in exile. Its administrative bodies operate out of Tbilisi, serving the 8,334 IDPs displaced into 22 compact settlements across Georgia. Eredvi technically administers over 100 villages, including several officially abandoned sites (nasoplari).
