Geography and Natural Environment

The village of Dobiro is located in Western Georgia, within the Samtredia Municipality of the Imereti region. It is situated in the southern foothills of Imereti, at an elevation of 160 meters above sea level. This location marks the transition where the vast Colchis Lowland begins to rise into rolling hills, providing the village with a diverse and picturesque landscape.

Historically, Dobiro was part of the Gomi administrative unit (community), which in turn belonged to the Sajavakho region. Sajavakho was one of the oldest and strategically most significant parts of Western Georgia, often contested between local principalities due to its favorable location.

The development of the Gomi community is closely linked to Eptvime Genateli, who laid the foundations for the area's revival at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Although Dobiro is a small village, it has always been a bearer of Imeretian culture and traditions, where the population has maintained a deep connection to the land and ancestral heritage for centuries.

The architectural character of the village is typical for the Imereti region. To this day, one can find traditional Imeretian "Oda" houses—wooden structures built on high stone foundations, featuring ornate balconies and spacious yards.
