It is located at an elevation of 1950 meters above sea level, on the Javakheti plateau. The village is built to the east of Lake Khanchali, which gives it a special natural charm and mystery. It is only 3 kilometers from Ninotsminda.

Geography and Natural Environment

Didi Khanchali is distinguished by its harsh but majestic mountain nature. The climate here is quite cold, with long winters and cool summers. The proximity of Lake Khanchali plays an important role in the village's life, offering visitors beautiful views and a unique ecosystem. Local Life and Traditions

Approximately 1230 people live in the village, the absolute majority of whom are ethnically Armenian. The locals are hardworking people whose main activities are livestock farming and agriculture (especially potato growing). A damaged 19th-century Armenian church is preserved in the village, which is part of the local cultural heritage. Life here is quiet and traditional.
