History and Cultural Heritage

Didi Jikhaishi is first mentioned in historical sources in the 18th century, although local settlement mounds (so-called "Gorikebi") indicate much older settlements. The village is especially famous for the name of Niko Nikoladze — a prominent Georgian publicist and public figure, whose memorial museum is located here. This place is the center of the village's cultural life and introduces the visitor to the history of Georgia's progressive thinking.

Geography and Local Life

The village is built on a fertile plain, where the warm climate and water-rich environment characteristic of Imereti create the best conditions for agriculture. Approximately 3360 people live here, making it one of the most densely populated villages in the region. The locals are hardworking people whose main activities are cattle breeding, viticulture, and field cropping. Didi Jikhaishi is 12 kilometers from Samtredia and is well-connected to the region's infrastructure.
