The history of Desi spans centuries. According to 1926 data, more than 150 people lived here, but over time the population moved to the lowlands. Today, the village is deserted of permanent population, but it retains the authentic look characteristic of the Truso valley — slate-built houses and ruins of towers that harmoniously blend with the harsh mountain relief. The village is 38 kilometers from Stepantsminda, making it a real refuge for those seeking primeval nature.
