Chvelfi is a highland village in Lower Svaneti, located on the banks of the Tskhenistskali River, on the slopes of the Svaneti Range.

Chvelfi is a village in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti region, Lentekhi municipality. It belongs to the Choluri community and is located at an elevation of 1120 meters above sea level, on the right side of the Tskhenistskali River. The village is distinguished by its highland location, untouched nature, and authentic Svan environment.

Geography and Alpine Nature

Chvelfi is built on mountainous terrain, presenting the harsh but breathtaking nature characteristic of Lower Svaneti. The air here is clear and healthy. The village is 18 kilometers from Lentekhi, making it sufficiently isolated for those seeking the majesty and peace of the mountains. The proximity of the Tskhenistskali River gives the village a special charm.

Svan Way of Life and Traditions

Today, approximately 60 people live in the village, faithfully maintaining Svan traditions, language, and hospitality. Chvelfi is a place where you can feel the atmosphere of a real mountain village — quiet, hardworking, and harmonious with nature. The local population is mainly engaged in livestock farming, which is closely linked to the local alpine pastures.
