Chitatskari is a village that stands out for its scale and active life. Located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, in the Zugdidi municipality, at an elevation of 60 meters above sea level, the village is spread across the Odishi Lowland on the left bank of the Chkhoushi River, providing it with favorable geographical conditions.

History and Name

The name "Chitatskari" translates from Megrelian as "Red Water". According to legend, this name is associated with the river water, which at certain times took on a red hue. Historically, Chitatskari has always been an important settlement in Samegrelo, where agriculture and local crafts were closely developed.

Modernity and Way of Life

Today, Chitatskari is one of the most densely populated villages in the region. Its proximity to Zugdidi (only 4 kilometers) connects it closely to the urban center, yet the village still retains its authentic Megrelian character. The local courtyards, traditional Oda houses, and Megrelian hospitality always charm guests. The infrastructure in the village is well-developed, making it comfortable to live in and visit.
