It represents the center of the Ushguli community and is located in the Mestia Municipality, at an altitude of 2160 meters above sea level. Chazhashi is a place where time stopped centuries ago, and it is rightfully included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Geography and Location
The village is built on the southern slope of the main Caucasus Range, at the confluence of the Enguri and Shavtskala-Kvishara rivers. This is one of the highest permanently inhabited places in Europe. Surrounded by giant mountains and glaciers, Chazhashi captivates the visitor with its harsh and majestic beauty.
