In the Imereti region, within the Samtredia Municipality, lies the village of Chagani. Built at an elevation of 50 meters above sea level, on the Imereti Lowland, this settlement is one of the peaceful and traditional villages of the region. Geography and Nature

The village is located in the Churtava River valley, 9 kilometers away from Samtredia. The local landscape is typical of the Imereti Lowland—vast plains rich in fertile lands. The climate is moderately warm and humid, creating the best conditions for farming, especially for growing corn and bamboo. The surroundings of Chagani are great for hiking and relaxation in nature. From here, beautiful views of the Imereti Lowland open up.

History and Local Lifestyle

Chagani was historically more densely populated. Interestingly, at the beginning of the 20th century, the village population was much larger. Today, about 480 people live in Chagani. The majority of the population are ethnic Georgians. Their daily life is closely tied to farming. The village maintains the hospitality and traditions characteristic of Imereti.
