Chabano — Historical Heritage on the Slopes of the Kakheti Range

In the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, within the Tianeti Municipality, lies the village of Chabano. Built at an elevation of 1180 meters above sea level, on the western slope of the Kakheti Range, this settlement is one of the important and historical villages of the region. Historical Heritage

The main attraction of Chabano is the Chabano complex, dating back to the 15th-16th centuries. The complex includes a church, a tower, and a wall, testifying to the strategic and cultural role of this place in the late Middle Ages. In addition, the Alisi Fortress from the 8th-10th centuries is located in the surroundings of the village, representing one of the oldest defensive structures in the region. These monuments are living witnesses to the village's centuries-old history.

Geography and Nature

The village is located on the banks of the Sagami River, 8 kilometers away from Tianeti. The local landscape is rich in deciduous forests and mountain meadows. The climate is moderately humid, with cool summers and snowy winters. The surroundings of Chabano create the best conditions for walking and historical tourism. From here, beautiful views of the Kakheti Range and the Tianeti Valley open up.

Local Lifestyle

Today, about 170 people live in Chabano. The daily life of the population is closely tied to animal husbandry and farming. The village maintains the hospitality and traditions characteristic of Mtianeti.
