Situated at an elevation of approximately 1018 meters above sea level, this small settlement is just 5 kilometers away from the town of Tetritsqaro. Abeliani (historically known as Abelia) is not merely a place with picturesque nature; it is one of the oldest inhabited points in Georgia, hiding millennia of history.

In written sources, the village "Abelia" is first mentioned in 1580. During the 16th-18th centuries, it was part of the historical region of Sabaratiano and played a significant role in the socio-economic life of Kvemo Kartli.
