Vere River
The Vere River is a right tributary of the Mtkvari (Kura) River, originating on the eastern slopes of the Trialeti Range. It flows through the heart of Tbilisi, Georgia's capital. The river has carved a deep and scenic gorge, which is a prominent geographical feature of the city. The Vere valley is home to the Tbilisi Zoo and the Mziuri Park, providing essential green spaces within the urban environment. The river is typically calm but is prone to sudden and severe flash floods following heavy rainfall, most notably the devastating flood of June 2015. Despite this, the Vere gorge remains a vital ecological corridor and a popular recreational area for Tbilisi residents.
