Tatias Sakdari Church

Located in the Sagarejo municipality, near the village of Khashmi, Tatias Sakdari is a modest hall-church representing medieval Georgian ecclesiastical architecture. Built from rough local stone, the structure reflects the pragmatic masonry typical of the Kakheti region. Unlike grand cathedrals, this site served as a functional, unadorned sanctuary for rural communities.

The building is a classic late medieval hall-type church, a prevalent design in smaller Georgian settlements. Reaching Tatias Sakdari requires driving approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Tbilisi. The route follows the main Kakheti highway before turning onto local rural roads near Khashmi. The final stretch includes uneven, unpaved terrain, so a vehicle with good clearance is highly recommended. Parking is available near the site. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear to navigate the grassy area around the church. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit, offering clear skies and dry trails.
