Potskhovi River
The Potskhovi River (Potskhovis Tsqali) is a significant river in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of southern Georgia. It originates in the Arsiani Range, near the border with Turkey, and flows eastwards to join the Mtkvari (Kura) River. The river is perhaps best known for flowing directly through the city of Akhaltsikhe, dividing it into two parts. The majestic Rabati Castle, a major historical and tourist attraction, sits prominently on a hill overlooking the Potskhovi River. The river valley has been an important historical route and continues to be a vital water source for the region's agriculture and communities.
