Lekhidari Waterfall

Duration: 1 hour

Located in the Racha region near the village of Tsesi, Lekhidari Waterfall is a prominent natural feature formed along the Lekhidari River. Carving its way through dense mixed forests and limestone bedrock, the water descends in a multi-tiered flow, creating a distinct microclimate in the surrounding gorge. Rather than a singular vertical drop, the waterfall follows the natural terraced topography, gathering in clear, cold basins at its base.

Geological Formation and Ecology

The hydrology of the area is heavily influenced by the Racha limestone massif. Over millennia, the relentless flow of the Lekhidari River has eroded the porous rock, shaping the stepped cascade visible today. The immediate environment is characterized by high humidity, supporting a dense covering of endemic mosses, ferns, and broadleaf vegetation. This continuous moisture provides an ideal habitat for regional flora, sharply contrasting with the drier alpine zones higher up the mountains. The gorge remains cool throughout the year, protected by thick canopies that filter the sunlight and sustain the unique ecological balance of the river basin.
