Dashbashi Canyon Viewpoint

Perched on the edge of a deep volcanic canyon carved by the Ktsia River, the Dashbashi Canyon panoramic viewpoint offers one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Kvemo Kartli region. Located near the village of Dashbashi in the Tsalka Municipality, this site has transformed from a quiet natural wonder into a modern landmark, primarily due to the architectural marvel of the 240-meter-long glass bridge suspended over the abyss.

Geographical and Natural Significance

The canyon stretches for about 8 kilometers at an altitude ranging from 1,100 to 1,500 meters above sea level. The volcanic rocks create a unique microclimate, allowing for lush vegetation to thrive even during the dry summer months. From the main panoramic viewpoint, visitors can observe the famous "weeping walls"—dozens of waterfalls cascading down the canyon slopes, fed by underground springs. This phenomenon is particularly impressive in spring when snowmelt peaks the water volume.

Visiting the Viewpoint and Glass Bridge

Accessing the bridge is straightforward via well-marked pathways starting from the tourist center. The walk from the parking area to the edge of the canyon takes roughly 10–15 minutes. The highlight is undoubtedly the diamond-shaped glass bar suspended in the middle of the bridge, which provides a 360-degree view of the waterfalls and the river flowing far below. Plan for 2 to 3 hours to fully experience the bridge and the descent to the riverbank.

Late spring or early autumn are ideal times to visit for mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer weekends attract many visitors, so arriving by 10:00 AM is recommended to avoid the rush. Be sure to pack a windbreaker, as the Tsalka plateau is prone to gusts even on clear days. While the upper viewpoint is accessible for all, the trail down to the river is steep and requires sturdy footwear—leave the flip-flops behind. For a complete day trip, consider visiting the nearby Paravani Lake or the historic village of Bediani.
