Gagripshi River

Duration: 1-2 hours Free

The Gagripshi River is a short but highly scenic waterway that flows through the famous coastal resort town of Gagra in the Abkhazia region. Originating in the nearby Gagra Range, the river quickly descends through a steep, lushly forested gorge before emptying into the Black Sea. The river is perhaps most famous for the iconic Gagripsh Restaurant, a historic wooden structure built without nails, which stands near its banks and is a symbol of the town. The gorge of the Gagripshi River offers a cool, shaded retreat from the coastal heat, with its dense subtropical vegetation and the sound of rushing water. It is a picturesque feature of Gagra, adding to the town's charm and historical appeal.
