Davismta

Duration: 2–3 hours

Rising prominent within the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Davismta is a significant peak standing at approximately 2,230 meters above sea level. This natural elevation provides an expansive vantage point over the Borjomi Gorge and the surrounding volcanic plateau. Long recognized by local communities, the mountain holds a firm place in the geographic and cultural identity of central Georgia, functioning as a towering landmark for the Lesser Caucasus mountain range.

Geographic Structure and Historical Context

The lower elevations of Davismta feature dense coniferous forests that give way to open alpine meadows near the summit. Historically, this terrain served as a critical crossing point, anchoring ancient pastoral routes that connected highland settlements with lowland valleys. Scattered across the lower slopes are the stone remains of old livestock pens and seasonal dwellings, marking centuries of high-altitude agriculture. The upper reaches of the massif merge seamlessly with the broader ecosystem of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, sustaining a complex network of flora and fauna essential to the region's biodiversity.
