Bzyb River
The Bzyb River is a major waterway in the Abkhazia region of northwestern Georgia, stretching approximately 110 kilometers before emptying into the Black Sea near Pitsunda. Originating in the western Caucasus Mountains, the river carves its way through spectacular, deep limestone gorges, creating some of the most dramatic scenery in the region. The Bzyb valley is renowned for its lush subtropical vegetation, ancient ruins, and natural wonders, including the famous Blue Lake (Tsisperi Tba) and the road leading to Lake Ritsa, which largely follows the river's course. The river's fast-flowing, turquoise waters make it a highly popular destination for whitewater rafting and kayaking, attracting thrill-seekers from far and wide. The Bzyb River is not only a crucial ecological corridor but also a central feature of Abkhazia's natural tourism appeal.
