Achkva River

Duration: 1-2 hours Free

The Achkva River is a relatively short but notable waterway located in the Kobuleti municipality of the Adjara region on Georgia's Black Sea coast. Originating in the nearby coastal foothills, the river flows directly through the urban area of Kobuleti, one of Georgia's most popular summer resort towns, before emptying into the Black Sea. The river effectively divides parts of the town and is crossed by several bridges that connect the bustling tourist areas. While it is not a major river for navigation or extreme sports, the Achkva is an integral part of Kobuleti's landscape. Its banks are often lined with vegetation and local infrastructure. The river's estuary at the Black Sea is a point of interest, where the fresh mountain water meets the salty sea. Efforts are continuously made to maintain the ecological health of the Achkva, given its proximity to major tourist beaches and residential areas.
