2-Day Kutaisi Adventure: Caves and Canyons

Our first stop is one of the most impressive monuments near Tbilisi — the magnificent Chronicle of Georgia. Giant stone pillars rise high above the city, telling stories of Georgian kings, heroes, and important moments from the country’s history. From here, you can also enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the Tbilisi Sea. This peaceful and powerful place is perfect for memorable photos and a beautiful start to the adventure.

Next, we visit the famous Jvari Monastery, one of the most important religious sites in Georgia. Standing proudly on top of a hill, this 6th-century monastery overlooks the magical meeting point of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. The peaceful atmosphere, ancient stone walls, and stunning views create a truly unforgettable experience. It is easy to understand why this place is loved by travelers from all around the world.

While in Gori, we visit the Stalin Museum, dedicated to one of the most controversial historical figures born in Georgia. Here, you can see personal belongings, historical photographs, Stalin’s private railway carriage, and learn more about the complex history of the Soviet era. Whether you are interested in politics or history, this museum offers a fascinating look into the past.

By evening, we arrive in Kutaisi — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe and the ancient capital of Georgian kingdoms. This charming city is full of history, culture, and warm atmosphere.

Before ending the day, we visit the beautiful Bagrati Cathedral, proudly standing above the city. Built in the 11th century, this cathedral is a symbol of Georgian unity and strength. From the hilltop, you can enjoy wonderful sunset views over Kutaisi and the surrounding valleys.

Our first destination is the magical Prometheus Cave, one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Georgia. Inside the cave, you will walk through enormous underground halls filled with colorful lights, impressive stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and mysterious rock formations created over millions of years. The atmosphere feels almost unreal — like entering another world beneath the earth.

Next, we travel into the beautiful green mountains to visit Kinchkha Waterfall, one of the tallest and most stunning waterfalls in Georgia. Surrounded by untouched nature, fresh mountain air, and peaceful forests, this place is perfect for relaxing, taking photos, and enjoying the wild beauty of the region.

One of the true highlights of the day is the breathtaking Martvili Canyon. Famous for its emerald-green waters, dramatic cliffs, and small waterfalls, this natural paradise looks like something from a dream. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful boat ride through the canyon or simply walk along the panoramic paths while listening to the sounds of nature all around you.

As we return toward Tbilisi, we make our final stop in Mtskheta, the ancient capital and spiritual heart of Georgia. This historic town is filled with beautiful churches, ancient streets, and centuries of history that shaped the country’s identity.
