Village · Tetritskaro municipality · Municipality in Kvemo Kartli

Geography and Environment

Golteti is located in the Tetritskaro Municipality of the Kvemo Kartli region, at an elevation of 880 meters above sea level. The village is positioned on the right bank of the Algeti River, spread across the Kvemo Kartli Plateau. It lies approximately 15 kilometers away from the municipal center, Tetritskaro.

History and Resettlement

A defining chapter in Golteti's history occurred in 1987-1988. During these years, about 300 families from the Lentekhi district (Svaneti region) were relocated here after their original homes were devastated by natural disasters. This migration brought a unique cultural blend to the village, as Svan traditions were integrated into the local Kvemo Kartli environment.

Local Life

Today, Golteti serves as the center of its own administrative unit. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and livestock farming, supported by the village's proximity to the Algeti River and its fertile plateau surroundings. The community maintains a strong connection to its roots while being an integral part of the Tetritskaro region.
