Geography and Location

Godogani is a charming village situated in the Terjola Municipality of the Imereti region. Nestled at an elevation of 183 meters above sea level, the village stretches along the banks of the Chishura River. Its location on the Imereti lowlands provides a pleasant climate and a landscape defined by lush greenery and flowing waters.

Historical Significance

The village is steeped in history, most notably represented by the ancient stone arch bridge known as "Queen Tamar's Bridge." Spanning the Chishura River, this architectural gem dates back to the 12th-13th centuries, the "Golden Age" of Georgia. Historically, the bridge held immense strategic importance as it served as a vital link on the main road connecting the historic capital of Kutaisi with Tbilisi. Despite reconstructions in 1668 and 2018, the bridge retains its medieval character and remains a functional testament to traditional Georgian masonry.
