Didi Ateni — Historical Tranquility in the Tana Valley

Didi Ateni is one of the most important historical villages in the Shida Kartli region, Gori municipality. It is located at an elevation of 730 meters above sea level, on the left side of the Tana River (a right tributary of the Mtkvari). The village belongs to the Ateni administrative unit and is distinguished by its rich past.

The Ateni valley is one of Georgia's oldest cultural centers. The village of Didi Ateni and its surroundings are rich in historical monuments, among which the Ateni Sioni (7th century) holds a special place.
