Didachara is one of the most important and oldest villages in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Khulo municipality. It is located at an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level and represents the cultural and historical center of Upper Adjara. The village's name in the Middle Ages was a term for the entire geographical region.

History and Archaeological Heritage

Didachara is distinguished by its rich past. A hoard of bronze Colchian axes from the 14th–13th centuries BC was discovered here through archaeological excavations, indicating that this territory has been inhabited since ancient times. For centuries, the village was the epicenter of Adjara's spiritual and cultural life.

Didachara Mosque — A National Treasure

The main pride of the village is the Didachara Mosque, built in 1831–1832. It is a monument of cultural heritage of national importance, distinguished by its unique wooden ornaments and architecture. The mosque is a brilliant example of Adjarian architecture and leaves an indelible impression on visitors.

Geography and Local Life

Didachara is built on a beautiful mountainous terrain, where the population (approximately 940 people) faithfully maintains Adjarian traditions. The main activities of the locals are livestock farming and field cropping. The village is known for its hospitality and rich folklore.
