Dashbashi (historical name — Akhalkalaki) is one of the most popular and impressive villages in the Kvemo Kartli region, Tsalka municipality. It is located at an elevation of 1500 meters above sea level, on the Chochiani plateau. The village is famous for its unique natural monument — the Dashbashi Canyon, which attracts thousands of travelers every year.
Nature and the Canyon
The main pride of Dashbashi is its canyon, carved into the Khrami River valley. The canyon is distinguished by its rare biodiversity and beautiful waterfalls flowing from the rock walls. In recent years, a unique glass bridge was built here, offering unforgettable views of the canyon. The air here is fresh and healthy, characteristic of highland regions.
History and Cultural Heritage
The village's history spans centuries. It was the seat of the Eristavis of Trialeti and the rulers of Sabaratiano. In the village stands the 10th-11th century domed church of St. George, an important example of Georgian architecture. Approximately 300 people live in the village, the majority of whom are representatives of the Armenian ethnos, faithfully maintaining their traditions and hospitality.
