Dabnia is a village in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Akhalkalaki municipality. It belongs to the Khaveti community and is located at an elevation of 1720 meters above sea level, in the southern part of the Javakheti plateau. The village is built on the left bank of the Kodalo River (a right tributary of the Mtkvari), giving it a special geographical character.

Geography and Javakheti Nature

Dabnia is characterized by a typical Javakheti landscape — vast plateaus, a harsh climate, and clear, transparent air. The village is 30 kilometers from Akhalkalaki. The winters here are long and snowy, while the summers are cool and pleasant. The proximity of the Kodalo River gives the village pleasant greenery and water resources, which are important for a highland region.

Local Life and History

Today, approximately 130 people live in the village. The local population is mainly Armenian, whose ancestors settled here during World War II. The people of Dabnia are hardworking, faithfully maintaining their way of life in these harsh natural conditions. Their main activities are livestock farming and agriculture, which is the backbone of Javakheti's economy.
