Chalovani is rich in historical monuments. There are three churches in the village, among which the Barbatsminda Church, dating back to the 11th-12th centuries, is of special importance. Today, about 600 people live in Chalovani. The majority of the population are ethnic Georgians, with Barbakadze being the most common surname.
