Botko — Forgotten Tranquility in the Iori Valley

In the Kakheti region, within the Sagarejo Municipality, in the Kochbaani community, lies the village of Botko. Built at an elevation of 1200 meters above sea level, at the eastern end of the Sabaduri Range, this settlement is one of the highest and most peaceful places in the region. Botko charms visitors with its untouched nature, clean air, and the mystical environment characteristic of the upper reaches of the Iori Valley.

Geography and Nature

The village is located on the right bank of the Iori River, 60 kilometers away from Sagarejo. The local landscape is rich in deciduous forests and mountain meadows. The climate is moderately cold—with cool summers and snowy winters. The surroundings of Botko create the best conditions for those seeking complete disconnection from civilization, tranquility, and being face-to-face with nature. From here, beautiful views of the Iori Valley and the surrounding ranges open up.

History and Today

Botko was historically densely populated, but over time the population moved to the lowlands. Today, the village is almost empty of permanent residents, which gives it a special, "forgotten" charm. Nevertheless, the village maintains its cultural identity and the authentic spirit of the Kakhetian highlands. A visit to Botko allows you to travel back in time, feel the former life of mountain Kakhetians, and enjoy complete silence, where only the noise of the Iori River and the singing of birds can be heard.
