Arkhiloskalo is situated in the southeastern reaches of the Dedoplistsqaro Municipality, positioned upon the expansive Shiraki Plain. Access to the village is facilitated by regional road networks connecting through the administrative center of Dedoplistsqaro, located approximately 15 kilometers to the west. The village serves as a representative example of the agricultural settlements that characterize this portion of the Kakheti region.

Landscape and Access

The settlement sits at an elevation of roughly 700 meters above sea level. The terrain surrounding Arkhiloskalo is defined by the flat, open geography of the Shiraki Plain, which creates long-distance views across cultivated fields. The road leading to the village is accessible by standard passenger vehicles, providing a direct route from the municipal center. The local environment is largely defined by open agricultural land, suitable for walking and observing the regional landscape.

Historical Context

The village was established between 1905 and 1913. Its formation is attributed to the relocation of families from the highland provinces of Mtiuleti and Pshavi. This migration significantly influenced the cultural composition of the settlement, as the newcomers introduced customs and architectural traditions specific to their regions of origin to the lower-lying terrain of the Shiraki Plain. The history of the village is preserved primarily through the oral traditions and local memory of its residents.

Economy and Daily Life

The economy of Arkhiloskalo remains rooted in land use. The fertility of the Shiraki Plain has historically made this area a center for cereal crop production, including wheat and barley. In addition to extensive grain cultivation, animal husbandry is a secondary pillar of the local economy. The village maintains a layout typical of the region, with residential houses dispersed among agricultural plots. Life in the village follows the seasonal rhythms dictated by agricultural cycles, remaining relatively quiet throughout the year.
