Aiazma — A High-Mountain Haven of Trialeti

In the Kvemo Kartli region, within the Tsalka Municipality, on the historical territory of Trialeti, lies the village of Aiazma. Situated at an elevation of 1580 meters above sea level, this settlement is 17 kilometers from Tsalka. Aiazma charms visitors with its harsh mountain nature and the interesting history that shaped the village's current face.

Historical Roots

The original Georgian name of the village was "Tetritskaro" (White Spring). After the Russo-Ottoman war of 1828-1829, Armenians and Greeks (Urums) who migrated from Turkey settled here. From this period, the village was given a new name—Aiazma, which means holy spring in Greek. This historical migration is still reflected in the village's cultural identity today.

The village is located on the Tsalka Plateau, creating ideal conditions for animal husbandry. The local landscape is a typical alpine zone—with open fields and a harsh climate. Long, snowy winters and cool summers give this place a special charm for those seeking mountain air and tranquility.
